In our first grade Maritime STEM Club, with Mrs. High, students are learning how and why boats chart their courses and the obstacles they may face along the way. Students turned their Botley robots into “boats” and designed their own waterways filled with obstacles. Then they had to code (or chart) a safe path for their boat to travel through without crashing. It was a fun way to explore navigation, problem-solving, and basic coding skills while thinking like real captains at sea!
